Crispy Bhindi - a delicious accompaniment

I have been wanting to make something with the bhindi or okra that is different from my usual bhindi subzi. This crispy bhindi was what came to my mind. I had tasted it before at a friend's place and had liked it very much. However, had never got down to making it myself. The okra in my refrigerator called out to me to get it out:). Easy to make done real quick this crispy bhindi(okra) goes very well with rice. I have cut it thin and long strips here. Instead of making it very thin if you slit one okra into two lengthwise and sprinkle some finely chopped onions, coriander leaves and chaat masala on each piece and then fry or microwave them, it would make a real tasty appetizer too. I have a deep fried recipe here, however, it beautifully in the microwave too. So if you want to cut out the extra calories you could try them in the microwave instead.

Ingredients:
Okra(bhindi) - 1/4 kg
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Chaat masala - 1/2 to 3/4 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

Method:
Cut okra into thin strips. Add in all the other ingredients, mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes. Deep fry till crisp and golden brown. Serve with rice.

Looks delicious. I make a similar one but add a tbsp of besan as well when marinating bhindi - it's meant to be eaten with rotis but usually vanishes as soon as it's made.
